PROGRAMS

Originally called Real for Love Children, this program has been redesigned to be able to respond to the present challenges that face the children of Guatemala, but specially those living in areas with few or no resources.

Thousands of children who live in small and sometimes remote towns, are somehow in a permanent waiting of a friendly hand,  a rescuer whom they hope will takes them or lead to accomplish its dreams. Through this program, FUNDEMI has taken donations to hundreds of children of Guatemala who have benefitted with educative materials, clothes, toys and in some cases new classrooms.

Some activities have been made with own resources of FUNDEMI, and in other occasions, it has worked jointly with governmental, deprived and international organizations. The support to the education and health of our children is a priority of FUNDEMI... Children always are going to be the future!

IAF develops different activities to support to our migrants with information on migratory regulations and proceedings in different institutions.

Every Wednesday, FUNDEMI contracts the services of a lawyer specialized in Migration, that free offers consultations for people who have asked for previous appointment.

In addition, FUNDEMI has destined permanent volunteers to assist hundreds of people who every day comes to the Consulate of Guatemala to get assistance in different themes.

Our goal is to extend these and other programs of migratory and education assistance, and for it, FUNDEMI is in the phase of obtaining financing by means of donations (grants) and communitarian activities.

The monthly publication Horizons, also has been designed to transfer valuable information to our migrants in aspects that need to know to a better integration to the life in the United States.

This it is a novel program that it tries to impel the work of several talented Guatemalans, and simultaneously, to collect funds for IAF programs.

IAF has occurred to the task of contacting photographers, painters, writers and artists in general who wish or express to donate part of its work, which will be available of the public in different presentations that could be: exhibitions, books, photography, calendars, functions and events.

These activities are as much carried out in the United States as in Guatemala. In this sense, IAF is in the process of establishing strategic alliances with several cultural organizations and on watch social in Guatemala.

Also a project is in its phase of planning to specially support television producers and independent film directors who promote social subjects, in the matter of migration, human rights, solidarity, tolerance, sustainable development and protection of the environment.

From their beginnings, IAF has been dedicated to take care of the necessities of our countrymen, specially those that arrive at the Consulate of Guatemala in Los Angeles.

It is difficult to imagine that a Guatemalan brother can’t get a  passport or a single consular ID because does not know to read nor to write or does not count with the basic information on these proceedings.

And that is only for mentioning one of so many cases that we find every day in the Consulate of Guatemala in Los Angeles; of that and other reasons, IAF volunteers are always willing to assist our countrymen in the entire process, since they arrive, photocopy documents, fill forms, until they leave.

We also provide tourism information to Guatemalans and foreigners that comes to the Consulate in search of information or visas. This type of attendance constitutes a true oasis for many compatriots who come from places like Utah, Las Vegas,  Phoenix, etc. IAF volunteers attend them and deliver the best effort so they do not return without obtaining his objective.
