The Immigrant American Foundation, is a private non organization, dedicated to guards by the civil and human rights of the Guatemalans resident in the United States of America and to promote development in Guatemala by helping children with their basic needs.
Our main mission is to fortify the identity and the Guatemalan culture creating at the same time, a space to promote and raise the values of our country, to spread the art and the culture at a high level.
We want other cultures to know about us, from the ancestral Mayans to recent movements in our countries.
This knowledge will open minds, hearts and doors and by consequence, it will not only promote a better integration of our people to the American society but generate a better understanding and tolerance.
Even tough most of IAF efforts focuses towards the Guatemalan community, we extend our hands and programs to the Central American migrants and human beings in general.
When it is lived abroad, it is understood - among other things- that are important to be informed and united, and that the citizenship of the country where we are located, see us all like migrants without considering divisions by origin country. For that reason, our heart and mentality are open towards any migrant; in the end, in the United States and outside, all we are Latin American, all we are humans. |
